The Cost of Transportation

We are always going somewhere, and that can be across town or across the country.  Traveling by plane is the quickest and most expensive way to get somewhere but including a Saturday evening stayover can save you as much as two-thirds. Leaving from a smaller airport can save you money but you must be flexible to catch the best prices.

Car rental can vary is cost also so it pays to compare prices.  If you have rental car insurance on your policy, then don’t get talked into buying their coverage that you don’t need.  You can save on gas for you car by pumping yourself and finding the best price online before you leave home. If your gas cap doesn’t fit snugly, get a new one because gas evaporates if it can escape. Keeping your engine tuned will save fuel also as a well running engine uses less fuel.

Under inflated tires will kill your gas mileage too and if you carry a lot of weight in the trunk, that too will use more fuel. Clean out the trunk because for each 250 lbs extra in your car, you will loose around one mile per gallon. Car repairs need to be done correctly so find an honest mechanic for needed repairs or ask friends for a referral.
